Labor MP Peter Khalil says the vast majority of scientific evidence demonstrates that climate change is real" and has urged the government to take advice from the experts. The crossbench is calling on parliament to declare a climate emergency this week as bushfires ravage parts of Queensland. Speaking to Sky News, Mr Khalil said what can be done about climate change is done by governments and claimed Australia would already be seeing "real action" if Labor won the May election.
