This Thursday (11), 1,261 deaths were recorded due to Covid-19, resulting in a total of 41,058 lives lost. The data show that, in just over three months, the novel coronavirus killed more Brazilians than traffic accidents throughout 2019. On March 16, in Sao Paulo, the disease killed the first Brazilian. Since then, more than 40,000 deaths from the new coronavirus have surpassed the 40,721 traffic deaths of 2019, according to data from Seguradora Lider-DPVAT. Also, deaths by Covid-19 in Brazil have already exceeded the total recorded in 2019 with intentional homicides. There were 39,776 in the past year, according to data from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The data on deaths and cases of Covid-19 are the result of an unprecedented collaboration between O Estado de S.
