Experts say dams on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Turkey and Iran, and frequent droughts have increased the salinity of wetlands. Three years ago another Iraqi site was made a World Heritage Site. But the people living in the marshes of southern Iraq, the Marsh Arabs, say the new status has not improved their livelihoods. Government negligence and climate change add to their daily struggle. Al Jazeeras Charles Stratford reports from southern Iraq.
