The United Nations IPCC report has found climate change is unequivocally being driven by human activity and is fuelling extreme weather such as floods, fires, droughts and cyclones. The UN secretary-general has called the report a code red for humanity and argued it should signal the death knell for coal and fossil fuels around the globe. The report also provided forecasts for the impacts of climate change in different regions. It predicted increased droughts in southern Australia, more extreme rain in eastern Australia, warmer temperatures and flooding in central Australia and increased rainfall in northern Australia.
