Full Article Source

Gabrielle Bundy-Cooke has been chosen as president of Palmerston Norths Milson Rotary for the next year, with the commitment of continuing Rotarys strong involvement in the local community. Rotary is one of the longest, established service organisations in the world and plays a significant role in the life of every community, she said. We see an ongoing role in supporting Life Education, Star Light, the citys food banks and other community organisations. Bundy-Cooke, a former city councillor who owns hair salon Spectra, wants to extend Rotarys stewardship to include local schools, where members can help to mentor and support the school and its pupils. She is keen to attract new members, especially young people, who she said have skills that would benefit Rotary and the community. We want to be closely connected with the Rotoact Club at Massey University and other Rotary clubs in Palmerston North. Milson Rotary also wants to be involved in the citys 150th anniversary next year and is seeking a project that will benefit Palmerston North. Bundy-Cooke said next year is the centenary of Rotary in the city. Above all she intends to continue making Rotary relevant and sustainable in the community and to preserve the heritage of the organisation. Bundy-Cooke takes over as president from Mark Ammundsen.
