After more than five months of work, the Senate Covid Pandemic Inquiry is coming to an end with a public report that says that President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) adopted denial not only as a rhetorical speech, but as a government policy. In five volumes, one minute of the opinion of senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) which was ready this Friday (15th) calls for the indictment of more than 60 people, including the president's sons, ministers of state, members and ex- Ministry of Health officials and entrepreneurs. According to people with access to the report, Renan followed the reasons why he believes Bolsonaro turned his denial into public policy, with the help of others mentioned in the opinion, such as his sons Carlos, Eduardo and Flavio Bolsonaro. In addition, Renan proposes 17 bills or changes to the Constitution, which include defining it a punishable crime to disseminate false news, which currently does not exist in Brazilian law. The idea is to suggest a prison sentence of at least two years for anyone who distributes news known to be false. The proposals will be processed directly in the plenary of the Senate, without having to go through thematic commissions, which speeds up the process. Translated by
